Biography:Dr. Beverly Derewianka has been an active participant in the field of Language Education for some thirty years, initially in the area of Community Languages and then in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Her research spans the learning of both English as a mothertongue and ESL/EFL - from children through to adults drawing on a Hallidayan functional approach to language and learning. More recently, she has become involved in the design and delivery of online teaching resources and web-based learning environments.
Research Interests:Genre-based approaches to language learning; Functional grammar in schools; Language syllabus development; Web-based materials development; On-line learning for TESOL educators; Flexible delivery in TESOL;
Literacy development (mothertongue English and ESL); Functional approaches to Academic literacy.
